Training Course

Today was very quiet. I was on a training course at work and I'll be on it for the next three days, which is kind of nice because it means that I can leave a little bit early.

I got home at about half past four today.

Back from Holiday

I arrived back today after my two week holiday. I spent two nights in Nashville, Tennessee, took the Greyhound bus to Memphis and then took an overnight Amtrak train to Chicago, Illinois, where I stayed for four nights. Then I took a plane to Washington DC where I stayed for three nights. Then I took a plane to Canada and spent four nights in halifax, Nova Scotia, before catching an overnight flight back. Which means I have had absolutely no sleep last night. It was a really good holday and a real adventure.

The thing is that now comes the post-holiday blues, where it's like for weeks before I left I had this big exciting thing being planned and I was really, really looking forward to it but now it's all over and there's nothing left to eally get excited about, and also there's the prospect of everyday life starting up again, so I do feel kind of depressed about that.

I'll write a more detailed post about my trip later on.

Repairs

Last night was pretty quiet, and so was today. It was a fairly quiet day at work, and I got back later than I had planned.

I had a letter today saying that there are repairs that need doing to the building, so that might be sorted out at some point. I don't really know what it is. I think it's a leak in the building's porch, but I don't really know. It's something to do with a leak somewhere. It's an old building and it happens quite a lot.

The Faculty

Last night was pretty quiet. I was watching some of the film The Faculty on TV. It's a 1998 film directed by Robert Rodriguez and written by Kevin Williamson (who wrote Scream and created Dawson's Creek) about a high school in Ohio where the teachers and most of the students become taken over by alien parasites. It's up to a small group of students to stop the invasion. Basically it's Invasion of the Body Snatchers meets The Breakfast Club. I've seen it a few times, and I remember seeing it at the cinema, but I didn't watch it today. I can't remember what I decided to see instead, but I think it might have been Father Ted. I also went on to the computer to start writing a horror movie script.

When I woke up this morning I had that moment where I forgot what day it was and thought that it was still the weekend, until I realised that I had set my alarm clock early so that must mean I had work. Worse, the fact that I had a second where I thought it was the weekend could only mean Monday morning.

However, I managed to get Friday and next Monday off on annual leave. I've got plenty of annual leave, so I thought it would be fun. Also I get paid this week, with backpay, hopefully, so it should be good. It was a pretty quiet day at work. I was listening to my iPod during the afternoon.

On my way home from work I got the latest issue of Empire magazine, which was listing the "500 Greatest Films of All Time". Number one was The Godfather, which was a really good film. I've seen that one a few times as well.

When I got home I had a mushroom risotto microwave meal, which I hadn't had before and was actually nicer than I had expected. When I switched my light on, the bulb blew out, so i went to change it. However, that didn't work and it turned out that it was the fuse, but I managed to fix it.

A Really Slow Day

It was another pretty quiet day at work and I was feeling quite tired for most of the day for no real reason.

The weather was really strange, alternating between being really wet and cloudy to being nice, dry and sunny.

They have finally fixed the lock on the main door of my building, which is a relief.

Yeah, it's been a really slow day today.
