Serenity

Last night I was watching the film Serenity, directed by Joss Whedon, on DVD. Serenity was taken fron Whedon's short-lived science-fiction TV series Firefly. It's set in the far future, where most of humanity is ruled by the powerful Alliance. The crew of the spaceship "Serenity" travel around space doing whatever work comes their way (legal or illegal). Their latest mission involves the safe transport of a doctor (Sean Maher) and his psychic sister (Summer Glau) who hides a terrible secret, which the Alliance will stop at nothing to get their hands on. Soon the crew of the "Serenity" are caught between the might of the Alliance and a horde of brutal, psychotic cannibals known as "Reavers". It was a good film, really entertaining, very witty and full of action.

Today I went around to my parent's house for lunch. I got my groceries for the week on the way. I had some sushi for lunch, which was really nice. I also found that the latest issue of Sight and Sound had arrived. The main features were a history of comic-book movies and a feature on double-bills at the cinema, which featured international critics discussing their favourite double-features.

In the afternoon, my mum and I went up to the Gallery for Modern Art and had a look around there. So that was really nice.
