Annual Leave

Last night I was watching a few episodes of South Park on TV last night. That show is probably not as good as it used to be, but it is still funny.

At work today I put in my leave request for the first two weeks of March off. I have at the moment eighteen and a half annual leave days left, and after the end of March when the new annual leave year begins I can carry over a total of nine days. If I don't take the rest of the days by then, I'll just lose them. Also, because I have been with the company for over five year, I'll have five extra days added to my annual leave total, which means I can take a long holiday later on in the year. I'm planning on going away a couple of times this year, partly because I barely go anywhere and I've not been anywhere in years.

Of course it's February which means a couple more weeks until Valentine's Day (my least favourite date, which I was probably going to mark by watching the Friday the 13th remake). Probably my favourite romantic movie is the 1995 Richard Linklater film Before Sunrise which is about an American student (Ethan Hawke) who is on a train through Europe and he meets a French woman (Julie Delpy) and they immediately hit it off and on impulse decide to get off the train at Vienna and spend the day wandering through the city basically chatting about whatever comes into their heads. I normally hate romantic movies, but I really liked that one. It was followed by a sequel, Before Sunset, which is also really good.
