Quotations

It was another fairly quiet day at work again today. I left at around half past five and bought the latest copy of Total Film magazine on my way home. The main features were about the new James Bond film.

It was funny because last night I was looking at some of the old Doctor Who books that I had rescued on Sunday and I couldn't quite believe that it's been twenty years since I bought some of them. It's weird because some of the things I can remember really vividly. I was feeling in an odd mood when I got home and so I was having a look at quotations on the internet, which does sometimes cheer me up when I'm feeling depressed. Here are a few:

"What to do if you find yourself stuck with no hope of rescue: Consider yourself lucky that life has been good to you so far. Alternatively, if life hasn't been good to you so far, which given your present circumstances seems more likely, consider yourself lucky that it won't be troubling you much longer."
-The Hitch-Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams.

"We are here to laugh at the odds and live our lives so well that Death will tremble to take us."-Charles Bukowski

"...nothing is desperately important and the joy of life is just looking at it."
-Alec Guinness

"Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans."
-John Lennon

" The first step — especially for young people with energy and drive and talent, but not money — the first step to controlling your world is to control your culture. To model and demonstrate the kind of world you demand to live in. To write the books. Make the music. Shoot the films. Paint the art."
-Chuck Palahniuk

"What's success? A man is a success if he gets up in the morning and goes to bed at night and in between does what he wants to do."
-Bob Dylan
