The Outer Limits

I was watching an episode of the original 1960s series of The Outer Limits last night on DVD called "The Bellero Shield". The story involved a scientist who accidentally summons a benevolent alien, however the scientists' ambitious wife becomes determined to steal the alien's powerful shield device so they can patent the mechanism. It was a pretty good story. I really liked the original Outer Limits.

I've got the whole series on DVD. I was also reading another couple of Neil Gaiman stories. The first one, "The Day the Saucers Came" was written as a poem about a day when all these wonderful, magical, bizarre things happen at once but the person the poem is addressed to doesn't notice any of these great things because they are busy sitting at home waiting for a phone call. Then there was "Sunbird", a story which Gaiman had written as a birthday present for his daughter, and told of a club of adventurous diners who have eaten pretty much everything imaginable and so decide to journey to Egypt in order to hunt and eat a mythical bird.

It was another quiet day at work. Someone is going on maternity leave tomorrow and so she brought in some cake for everyone, which was nice.
