The Cable Guy

Yesterday evening I listened to the latest episode of Fear on Four, this week's story was called "Fat Andy", and told the story of a young man who lives with his mother and is haunted by the memories of the death of a girl who teased him as a child, and who is buried in the local churchyard, the power of which he believes keeps him safe, however when the church is deconsecrated the girl's vengeful ghost is released. This is the last in the series. The Fear on Four show was hosted by the sombre voiced "Man in Black", who was first played by Valentine Dyall and then by Edward de Souza. Earlier this year the character was resurrected, and voiced by Mark Gatiss, in another series of one-off horror radio plays called The Man in Black.

Later on in the evening I watched the 1996 movie, The Cable Guy, directed by Ben Stiller. The movie tells the story of a man (Matthew Broderick) who has recently been dumped by his girlfriend, when he hires someone (Jim Carrey) to hook up his cable TV system, he soon finds that he is being stalked by the increasingly deranged "Cable Guy". The movie was a real failure when it was first released, but I think it is a good movie. It's very funny but surprisingly dark.

Today I went along to work and it was another really dull and quiet day again. At least the work managed to remain for the whole day. Although the systems were moving really slowly today, which was really annoying.
