Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2

Last night I was watching the 2000 film Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2, directed by Joe Berlinger. The movie opens in Burkittsville, Maryland, which, following the massive success of The Blair Witch Project (1999), had tourists and movie fans from all over the world flocking in to see the sights from the movie. It tells the story of four fans of The Blair Witch Project who go on a "Blair Witch Tour" organised by a local man. Spending the night camping at the ruined house where, apparently, the original "Blair Witch" tapes were found, they wake up to discover that they have no memory of the previous night and their notes and equipment have been destroyed. The tour group decide to examine their own tapes to find out what happened during that missing time. By the way, the original Blair Witch Project was made up to be footage shot by missing college students. The sequel was strongly attacked by critics and fans of the original. In fact, I thought it was quite a fun movie. The director, Joe Berlinger, wasn't happy with the film partly because the movie was rushed through so it could be released exactly a year after the original and also because he was forced by the studio to put in more gore, because they didn't think the film was violent enough. I remember very clearly when the original film was released, because it was such a huge thing at the time. It really was quite a sensation. Another thing with The Blair Witch Project was people seeme to either really love it or hate it.

It was another pretty uneventful day at work today, but at least that is the weekend here now.
