The Doors

Last night I was watching the film of The Doors on TV. It's a 1991 film directed by Oliver Stone about the legendary 1960s rock band, although it more or less ignores the other three members of the group to concentrate exclusively on the lead singer Jim Morrison (who is played by Val Kilmer in the film). It follows Morrison from his days as a film student and aspiring poet in Los Angeles through his rise and fall with The Doors. The film has been widely criticised by people who knew Morrison, and they have said that the film is wildly inaccurate. I've read about four books about Jim Morrison. I'm quite a big fan of The Doors, I've got all their albums, and the books that Morrison wrote, so I'm fairly familiar with the biography.

I got a letter this morning saying that I have been selected at random to be put on the list for potential jurors, for the next couple of years. That could be... interesting.

Work was more or less empty by lunchtime as usual on a Friday, and it was a fairly dull day as usual.
