The Naked Gun

Last night I was watching the 1988 comedy film The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad!, directed by David Zucker, and based on the short-lived 1982 TV series Police Squad!. In the film the inept Lieutenant Frank Drebin (played by Leslie Nielsen) has to foil an assassination plot against Queen Elizabeth II who is arrivng on a state visit to Los Angeles. The movie is very fast-paced and very funny. The movie constantly spoofs cop and detective movie cliches and it works by pretty much throwing joke after joke at the viewer, in fact there is barely a second in the film where there is not some kind of gag somewhere. Most of the jokes work really well. It also feature OJ Simpson in more innocent times as an accident prone detective.

It was another quiet day at work, with the only excitement being the fact that the fire alarm rang at about quarter past five, and so we were all trooped out, the firemen came to have a look around. They left after about quarter of an hour and then about five minutes later we were allowed back into the building. I don't know what the alarm was about.
