Monday Again

I got back late last night and slept in later than I had planned, getting up at seven.

Work was pretty much the same as usual. There was yet another fire alarm set off while I was having my lunch. This makes the third one in two weeks and it is incredibly irritating. In the afternoon I went up to a meeting about the video news thing that the organisation does. Basically it's to try and gather information and news items for them, if that's possible.

I got home at around quarter past five today.

Dream Country

Last night I watched the final episode of Psychoville which was really good. That's been a really good and pretty unconventional series, mixing bizarre Gothic horror with conventional sitcom elements. It managed to be consistently pretty scary and gruesome as well as being very funny.

Also last night I started writing some of my own things again, for the first time in a couple of months, so that was pretty good.

Today I got into work at eight o'clock again this morning and, because I had built up so much time during the week. I was able to leave at around two. I got a couple of The Sandman graphic novels be Neil Gaiman. The ones that I got were Dream Country and A Game of You. The Sandman was a comic book series that ran from 1989 to 1996. The Sandman is Morpheus, the personification of Dream, and the series takes in history, fantasy universes, literature and mythology. The comics were always hugely imaginative and entertaining.

"Things need not have happened to be true. Tales and dreams are the shadow-truths that will endure when mere facts are dust and ashes, and forgot."-The Sandman written by Neil Gaiman.

End of the Month

Last night was fairly uneventful. I was watching a few of the extra features on the Peep Show season four DVD, and then I was playing for awhile on Grand Theft Auto IV, which once again I actually spent longer on than I had intended.

Today has been really quiet. I got up late and went ought to get my groceries for the coming week. Which basically means microwave meals, cheese and bread.

January seems to have been a really long month this year. It always does tend to be kind of a slow month but this month even more so than usual.

Time at Work

Last night I was watching a show where various TV comedians reminisced about their school days. It was pretty funny.

This morning I went out early and picked up the latest copy of Total Film magazine. The main story this month was a profile of the new Frank Miller adaptation The Spirit, along with a countdown of the 150 greatest movie performances, an article on screenwriter Charlie Kaufman and an interview with Clint Eastwood. It also came with a 2009 calendar featuring iconic movie posters. I got into work for half past eight, which is an hour earlier than usual. The upshot was I got to leave an hour earlier. We have flexitime at work and the way it basically works is that the office opens at seven and closes at nine and we can more or less come in and leave whenever we like during those hours. However, when you start you get a time credit of zero and if you work late you have time automatically added to the credit and if you leave early you lose time from your credit. We're allowed to be no more than fourteen hours above the basic level at any one time and no more than fourteen hours under the basic level. If you work the basic eight hours for the day with a half hour lunch, then you don't make or lose any time. There are other elements to it, for example at a certain point every month you can be bo more than seven hours below the time limit. I'm hoping to make a couple of hours over the next week so I can leave early next Friday, seing as it's my last work day before my two week holiday. If I go on the way that I have been for the past couple of days I should easily make a couple of hours for next Friday. Also I am having a half day on annual leave on Wednesday anyway because I'm going out for lunch.

I got home at around five today and had a microwave spaghetti carbonara meal. It's the weekend now and at some point I'll be putting up my Christmas decorations.

Back to the Office

Last night was really quiet. I was watching the first part of a show called The 100 Greatest Christmas Moments, which was a countdown of various memorable or bizarre Christmas themed TV shows, movies and pop music. After that I saw a couple of episodes of Father Ted, which was pretty funny.

Today was the start of another week at work, and it was pretty quiet. Monday is one of those days that a lot of people seem to have off. It should be a fairly ordinary week, except I have a dental appointment on Wednesday morning, but next week I am planning on taking a half day on the Wednesday (for a Christmas lunch thing) and leaving early on the Friday (because it's my last day before the holiday). I'll have to watch my time over the next couple of weeks, but at least we're being credited with four hours extra time by the management, which was just put on today, as a kind of Christmas bonus.

I got home shortly before six o'clock and had some microwaved spaghetti bolognese.

The End of Another Week

Today was another dull day at work. Joe was only in for about two hours today and then went off for his lunch and didn't come back. Presumably he got too drunk. Recently I've been trying to get in to work much earlier in the morning, so I can build up my times. It actually does take a bit of getting used to becaus it alters the whole schedule for the day. Although I've still managed to make about four hours of time over the past few days.

This is the first Friday in about two months that I've not been out after work. It's good to stay in sometimes.
