Hollywoodland
Last night I was watching a film called Hollywoodland, directed by Allen Coulter, on television. It was based around the real life suicide of actor George Reeves (whose claim to fame was playing Superman on TV in the 1950s). The film, set in the 1950s, tells of a private investigator (played by Adrien Brody) who is hired to discover whether Reeves (Ben Affleck) really killed himself or whether there was something more to it. The film moves between the story of Reeves and the investigator probing the dark underworld of Hollywood. The film was a pretty interesting mix of Hollywood biopic and film noir.
I still haven't heard anything from Michele. I went out for a drink with my friend Joe after work which was nice. It's my Fiction Workshop class tomorrow. I'll have to write a story for that. Basically the assignemnt is to write 500 words of creative writing on a selection of topics. One of which was Marilyn Monroe, which gave me an idea for a Hollywood ghost story.
