Lost Hearts
Last night I watched another M. R. James ghost story on TV. This one was called Lost Hearts and told the story of a young orphan who is sent to live with his elderly cousin in a large manor house. However the boy quickly discovers the fact that his cousin is not what he seems, and that his new home is also occupied by two vengeful ghosts. it was quite scary and pretty gruesome as well. I also watched a programme called The Signalman, based on a short story by Charles Dickens, about a lonely railway signalman who is tormented by frequent appearances from a ghost who always seems to fortell a tragic event. It was quite a creepy story.
I was only at work for a half day today. After work I went to the bar next door and had about three drinks and a plate of chips and melted cheese. I exchanged Christmas presents with my friends Alan and Joe before heading on home. That is me off work now for two weeks, which I am very happy about!
