Hot Fuzz
Last night I watched Hot Fuzz on DVD. The film, directed by Edgar Wright, was released in February this year. The film stars Simon Pegg as London cop Nicholas Angel, who is so good at his job that he's making the rest of the police force look bad, and so his superiors promote him to sergeant and force him to take a position in the sleepy country village of Sandford, which has an almost non-existant crime rate. When he arrives at the village, Angel encounters the eccentric locals and the local police department, who spend most of their time eating cakes, and treat him with hostility, except one (Nick Frost) who is pre-occupied with American action movies, and for whom Angel represents big city glamour. However before long Angel discovers that, despite the surprisingly low crime-rate, the village is plagued by an equally suprising number of bizarre fatal accidents. The film parodies action movies, buddy-cop-movies and "creepy village" horror movies. It is an extremely funny movie, and hugely entertaining.
I went to my parent's house today for my lunch, and I was there for most of the afternoon. It was pretty quiet. My parent's had had a great time in London and really enjoyed "King Lear".
