The Wind Rises
Last night I saw the movie The Martian directed by Ridley Scott, based on the novel Andy Weir. It stars Matt Damon as Mark Watney, an astronaut on a manned mission to Mars who is left for dead after the mission is aborted. Alone on Mars, Watney has to find a way to get in contact with Earth and survive long enough to be rescued. It is a hugely entertaining film, and very close to the book.
I went out to my parent's house today. This evening I went to the Filmhouse cinema to see The Wind Rises, directed by Hayao Miyazaki. It's a biographical animated film telling the story of aircraft designer Jiro Horikoshi, it is a beautiful and powerful film.
